How Do I Find A Replacement Toilet Tank Cover?
Posted in Toilet on 05. Dec, 2009
I’m refurbishing a very damaged apartment unit, and one of the things that was broken was the toilet tank lid. There aren’t any that match in Home Depot. I’ve seen some websites that have all kinds of lids but are really expensive. How can I replace the lid at a good price? Should I just put on a whole new tank so I can get the new lid with it? The toilet is a Llamosa Sahara toilet, and the tank is a SASA tank with a #34 on the inside.

Call around to the salvage yards in your area. I found a porceline tank lid for one of my rental units there for about 10 bucks.
Tank lids are really hard to find replacements for I have found it is easier to replace the entire toilet and keep the other for parts if you own more rentals this will save you a lot of time and aggravation. As you will find also is that not all tanks are interchangeable due to the bolt patterns being different where it mounts to the bowl. You should be able to buy a toilet for around $65 the lid will cost you half of that or more if you find one.
Believe or not junk yards are a treasure trove of such items. Just make certain that you know the dimensions of the lid before you go, that way you’ll possibly save yourself a lot of time.
build a nice wooden one, coat it with may layers of polyurathane to protect it from moisture and it will be pretty and serviceable, like having an extra shelf……….good luck
what u can try is go to ur local plumbing company and take the tank with u if possible….if not try to get a piece of construction paper and cut out the size and shape it should be and carry that with u to the plumbing company…..i know many companies have the old toilets they replace in a scrap pile in the back and u can usually get one for nearly nothing as long as the company isnt trying to hoo-doo ya…..should get one for less than $20…..good luck
